1st Place Entry # Seasoned-B-1 StarChyld Doll by Lethia Cobbs from... Long Beach, CA

My doll is called StarChyld. She is based on the adults I knew as a child who were fans of the funk group Parliament. The group and their fans were/are very expressive with their colors and clothing.

StarChyld is named after a character featured in Parliament's music.

She is 20 inches (in platform heels). She is made from cloth, acrylic paint, hair used for cornrows, foam and beads. She is stuffed with cotton.

Zelda is a design by Eleanor Peace Bailey which the clothing and body were based off.

I created the face myself.

This is my 82 year young Aunty Lois. The body and clothing are based on a design by Eleanor Peace Bailey.

Her face was design and created by me,

Eyes are inserted, attached acrylic finger nails, leather boots and full ruffled petticoat.

Older ladies tend to wear clothes that make them feel good and look good in their eyes. It's okay that they are a little gaudy.  Aunty Lois loves her jewelry, many colors, and makeup while feeling sexy.
