KIKI
Doll by Deb Rucinski
from... Wisconsin Dells, WI

Kiki is a cute little girl kangaroo all dressed up in her patterned diaper, bow and girly bead necklace. When I create animal babies I first hunt the internet in search of actual subjects. Then I try to make them as true as I can. Kiki is hand stitched, jointed, and hand painted. Her eyes are fabric, formed and painted. As well as her nose.
KIKI is completely designed by me. The only thing not created by me are the plastic beads I used for her necklace.

Reindeer
Doll by Melody Korlinchak
from... Coalport, PA

My doll for the animal doll challenge is Frowning Francis Folk Art Pattern. He sits approximately 11 inches tall. What fun to create! I added a scarf I knitted and also added extra layers of paint to make the fur on him. His main body is made from fabric and then I added antlers made of foil and paper clay (this was new to me). The use of paper clay was at times a struggle, but with time I was able to figure it out. I tried to add a few touches of my own and it was very interesting to be able to use foil, plastic and paper clay to make him come to life. I added my little wooly tree I made at a class for the extra touch to set the scene!

Ratty with Hottie
Doll by Melody Korlinchak
from... Coalport, PA

My animal doll for the challenge is, "Ratty with Hottie," a doll designed by Jill Maas. I had a great time making Ratty. I had to take a picture of him when he was overindulging in cheese and crackers . It shows how well he stands on his own and how he can hold onto things. On the closeup you can see his teeth. The main animal is fabric, but there is wire and pipe cleaners that help to make him free standing. The feather boa was fun to use to show to his flamboyant side. After overindulging in cheese and crackers, he had to retire with his heating pad . His little fingers were a challenge. He stands 12'' tall. I hope you enjoy him as much as I do!

Pecos
Doll by Nancy Gawron
from... Lemont, IL
|
|

This is Pecos. He is a young, paint colt.
His legs are very long, but he can run as fast as his mother. His big eyes are baby blue, but might change to brown as he gets older.
He has a little dog friend, Coco, that lives in the main house.
Coco and Pecos spend many hours together. Coco likes riding around the pasture, on Pecos' back. They are quite a sight!
Pecos is made from white wool felt, that has been brushed. His spots are applied with a fabric paint. Coco is also an original pattern.
