Hi Lambchop!

Introduce a little child to a puppet and the reaction is just adorable. The spring theme brought to mind baby lambs, so I chose to create a one year old baby wearing a modernized Shepard-style dress and made her a Lambchop sock puppet to play with. I think she loves playing with her new friend, don't you?

16" tall. Jointed shoulders, hips, turning head and wired fingers. Needle sculpted body.  Face: Acrylic paint and Prismacolor pencils. Pre-made wig, but cut and restyled. Costume: Padded diaper in cloth, bloomers, strapless sundress with attached apron embroidered in silk ribbon. Separate jacket is lined and trimmed with ribbon, lace and fancy braids. All clothing is removable. Lambchop puppet is handmade from bits of a sports sock. My original design and patterns.

Baby Precious and Her Sleeping Kitty

Baby Precious just fell asleep in an old Windsor chair and who could blame her? Whew! She's so busy crawling everywhere and getting into everything - wait till she sees who followed her - a napping kitty is nestled on her lap, ready to play when they both wake up!

15 inch Baby Precious is made from my own original pattern using hand-dyed flesh color muslin, Poly-fil stuffing and brunette synthetic curly hair. Her face was created by taking an early 1900's illustration and turning it into a doll face by using extensive editing software airbrushing and blending techniques, then transferring it to cloth.

Baby Precious holds a purchased furry napping kitty and wears a tea-dyed purchased layered lace dress with silk rose accents, a matching bonnet, doll shoes and handmade stockings.

Mia

Wanted: A Mama for Mia

Mia is a little tot.
who doesn’t have a little cot,
or know if she’ll be fed, or not,
but she is beguiling.

Sitting in her little frock,
Holding on to her block,
Shoes but no socks
She doesn’t feel like smiling.

It’s time, Mia needs a home.
A place where she can bring
Some happiness to someone dear
A place – a home – this Spring!

To all the Mama’s out there
This tot is waiting here
for someone to love her,
A Mama for Mia!

Mia, an 18” Kezi Mathews pattern, but fully- sculpted – an extension of the pattern. Her hair is fur fabric. Gel pens, Prismacolour pencil and chalk pastel for colour. Mod Podge on eyes. Shoes are made from felt and rompers, which came with the pattern, made from a print cotton fabric, as is the quilted block Mia is holding.

Grace

This is Grace, so named because of God"s grace in enabling me to finish on time. The pattern for the doll and clothes are from a Carolee Creations pattern, "Baby Love". She's 19" tall, hand made, from the tip of her fat little toes to the top of her head. She seems to be fascinated with the butterfly in the pot of daisies I received for Mother's Day. I could not resist the silky, black, fake fur I found on the remnant table for her hair. Perfect! She makes me smile. I hope she makes you smile, too.

Mary Lou

Mary Lou First Walk

Mary Lou is 11 months old who is learning how to walk. This is her first attempt. Her mother is 2 feet away in front of her encouraging her to walk towards her. She is also telling her “Come on baby you can do it don’t look at me” said the mother. Mary Lou uses her hands and feet to balance her body to succeed in her first walk. Her goal is to reach mom without falling along the way.

Description: Mary Lou is a hand made cloth doll. She is 20” tall. Her facial features are all hand stitched. Her socks and shoes are integral part of the doll design. The doll dress is specially designed for this competition. The doll and dress are designed by the dollmaker.

Baby Emille

Baby Emille was a custom ordered Birthday gift, and was to resemble her "New Mama", also named Emille.

She was made from Judi Ward's pattern "Prince William". She measures 24" to 26" depending on how she is sitting. Her features are painted with acrylics and enhanced with colored pencils. She has the most adorable little ears and toes. She will be traveling in only her diaper since there is a full Baby Layette awaiting her when she arrives at her new home. So for her portrait, I borrowed one of my own Great-Grandaughters baby dresses. She was quite fussy as we set up the 'Photo shoot', so I let her pick one of the many kittys in my 'Beany Babie' collection. I think he must have licked her hand since she is smiling now.

PS..Shush, don't tell anyone, but she's a 'Real' girl under her diaper and has the cutest little fanny too.

I decide to make a cute cloth doll baby with smiling face and it makes me always keep smile. She is named Fathima, Fathima is about 18 inch tall head to toe, her face is hand painted with poster color water based and soft sculptured including her body. She is invisibly jointed at the shoulder, hips and head turns. I made her cloth, pants and shoes, all of them are my own original pattern, but her socks and brooch are purchased.

Misha

MISHA

With her bright blue eyes and crooked little smile, this little angel is holding out her arms to Mommy, just waiting to be picked up and hugged. And Mommy loves holding Misha because she's as cuddly as a real baby and wears actual infant clothes and shoes.

My dolls are soft sculptured out of Windsor Comfort fabric and fiber fill. The eyes are hand painted with acrylic paints and then sealed with clear coat. The body blushing is also acrylic paint. The dolls are around 20 to 24 inches tall. I use yarn and fake fur for the hairdos.

The pattern is a combination of My Child and Miss Martha's that I have tweaked over the years. They have fully formed feet, toes and fingers, belly button and knees that are needle sculpted. The nose is made separately and sewn on. I use a pigma pen for the eyelashes.

Misha has a 3" fur wig that I made just for her.

Florita

The baby was inspired from an Ann Clemens pattern that I had in the studio for years and had never made. I decreased the baby down to 12" because I don't like working large.

Since it is spring I decided that Florita should be resting on a sunflower. Her clothes are made from dyed gauze, with hair of boa and her face is painted in acrylics with Prismacolor pencils for the shading.

I don't usually make babies so she was quit a challenge for real.
