Baby Patty
Doll by Patt Jenks
from... Helena, MT

Baby Patty was created by the idea of my mom as a baby. I used several ideas and then created my own design. I appliqued her baby picture for her face. She is 5" tall, with painted on booties with red pompoms and a cloth diaper. She has my hair for her hair. She is wearing the same kind of dress as in Mom's picture, not sure of the color, but thought red and white were okay for her era. This baby will be passed down to my great granddaughter. This has been a fun baby challenge.

Precious Baby Anne
Doll by Carmit Shemesh Haas
from... Israel

Precious Baby Anne is a 14" soft sculpture baby made from a pattern designed by Kezi Matthews.
Kezi Matthews was and still is my favourite doll designer. Her designs are pure magic. When I first saw Baby Anne's picture in an old "The cloth doll" magazine I immediately fell in love. She seemed so sweet and delicate- I knew I had to make her myself!
It wasn't easy though- since The pattern was out of print. I waited several years until I was finally able to make her. After I bought the pattern, I discovered the fabric for her body isn't sold in my country. After trial and error I've made her out of cotton knit. The third picture shows Baby Anne with her older brother and sisters...
I love her so much, with her frills, laces and innocent look, almost as much as I love my own babies!

The Rhubarb Kids - Rubee, Ruthee, Rudee and Rufus

I have had the busiest spring ever this year!! A month ago I went out to the greenhouse and what do you think I found? Four Rhubarb Babies!!! Right in the middle of our not-so-pretty rhubarb plant. I'm sure that you are like me and have always wanted to find garden babies but I'll bet no one has ever told you what a lot of work they are. They are so cute and tiny and adorable.. but I have been changing diapers, making teeny clothes, juicing rhubarb (that was a surprise), watching for cats, and so much more. So far the babies have stayed in the rhubarb but I had to make Rudee a hat the other day because he had sunburned his face somehow. I'm sure this summer will be full of even more work and surprises. (Look up garden babies on the internet and you'll see just what I am going through). LOL |

Sweet Elisheva
A 22" waldorf doll to greet a new sister
Doll by Carmit Shemesh Haas
from... Israel

Elisheva is a 22" waldorf doll, designed and made by me. She is made out of 100% cotton tricot and stuffed firmly with wool roving, which gives her a nice smell and feel . She has two sets of clothing- a dress that I have sewn for her from my own pattern, with hand-knitted sweater and booties, and a store bought onesie.
I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. When my three year old girl came to visit us in the hospital, I gave her Elisheva- a baby of her own, a gift from the new baby. Or, my daughter, loves her doll. She really wanted to help change and dress the baby, so instead, each time when I do so, she changes Elisheva right besides me. The fact that Elisheva and the baby are the same height- helps. Each morning she dresses Elisheva and gets her ready for the day, and each evening she puts on her pajamas and covers her with all of her play scarves...
Elisheva is a biblical name, in Hebrew. Or named her doll so after her favorite lullaby. Elisheva wears the sweater and booties I've knitted for Or during my first pregnancy, and my favorite onesie that got to small for baby.

Danny, Ready for the Summer Holidays
Doll by Jane Carr
from... Ottumwa, IA

Danny is an all cotton 16 inch doll made from a Lucille Gruppa pattern found in Soft Dolls & Animals! : Jan. 2005. I changed the pattern for the dolls' bottom and ear but other than those the doll is made exactly from the pattern. The face is drawn with Micron pens. Danny's 100 percent cotton playsuit is from Simplicity Pattern 1952. The wig, white shirt and ball were purchased.
Danny will be one year old May 28, 2012, this year's Memorial Day so he is dressed in a red, white and blue playsuit. He's ready to watch the parade honoring the veterans but I think he will like the fire trucks best. His patriot suit will be perfect all summer long for July 4th and Memorial Day too. Danny loves it when his family gatherings so his cousins will roll the ball to him or push him in the swing.

Daisy
( My favorite flower )
Doll by Melody Korlinchak
from... New Holland, PA

The doll IS ''Birthday Wish'' a design by Kate Erbach. I changed some of the details.I used Kates Shoe pattern and added a Daisy to them. I painted her facial features and made her have open eyes.I also painted her toe and fingernails. I made my own clothing.I made her a sleeper ( with a snap open flap in the back) and her very own security blanket tags and all . The sock monkey hat and diaper cover I made after making some newborn ones. Last of all I made her a special Party dress complete with a signature daisy headband. She is also wearing a diaper and bloomers. Daisy is 10 1/2 inches tall and her arms move and her fingers have wire in them so she can grip her blanket at nap time. Daisy is tiny but she has a lot of details that I think any little girl would love to cuddle. She has almost elf like exagerated features.
