Flutter Fae

Original Design!

Flutter Fae was born deep in the New Zealand bush where silver ferns grow and the Tui sings his heavenly song sending wee Flutter Fairy babies to sleep when the sun rises.

Flutter Fae is made from doe suede, needle sculpted and highlighted with water colour pencil. She has hand dyed mohair hair which has been needle felted into her head. Her wings are polymer clay and Flutter Fae sits at 5" to the top of her pretty wee head.

Special Mention by Voters.  Why...

Very well made pattern and very creative.

The work on the wings and trimmings on this creature are very well done.

Flutter Fae is exactly what I envision a fairy to look like. The body details and whimsical clothing are perfect!

The expression on her face and the buns hanging out are really cute.

This doll represents the role of dolls as Memory Keepers - transmitters of traditions and values to the next generations.

Just Wow!

The Zinnia Flower Fairy Baby

Original Design!

I love "A World of Flower Fairies" by Cicely Mary Barker, so I chose "The Song of the Zinnia Fairy" as my inspiration for this baby doll challenge. Zinnia is about eight months old and is nestled in her own little garden.

18" Body: muslin, fiberfill. Removable four-piece outfit of diaper, onesie, petal skirt, fairy wings: muslin; painted mixture of Mod Podge and acrylics. Crochet trimmed. Painted wings have Fun Foam core. I hand-wefted English Mohair and sewed it to doll head. Hairpiece: silk ribbon, yarn, wool felt, beads, embroidery floss. Freehand-drawn face: Prismacolor pencils, Micron pen. My original patterns.

Special Mention by Voters.  Why...

She has such personality and cuteness, and as an original design is super. She could fit with either real or non real babies

Mikey

Mikey - made from Judi Ward's Molly Monkey pattern. I added Bruce Banana from the free download and designed my own short overalls. Monkey shoes are from a baby shoe pattern that fit him perfectly. He is made from doe suede, the darker color fuzzy side out and the lighter color, fuzzy side in. I added fur on his wrists and for hair. He also sports a wool felt baseball cap.

Special Mention by Voters.  Why...

Loved the facial expression. He looked more like a shy scared little kid than a curious little monkey.

The face was done beautifully and the outfit is adorable.

He is just so CUTE!!!

Lavender, a Whippersnapper

Original Design!

This faerie baby is known as a Whippersnapper, I know you've always wanted to know what one looked like, right? Her name is Lavender and she is 16" long and has a weighted body, legs and arms. She feels like a real little bundle of fey in your arms. Made from hand dyed wool fabric and hand dyed tibetan lamb locks for hair, with needle felted eyes, sculpted nose, mouth and toes. Dressed in a soft pair of fuzzy pj's, Lavender is ready for you to tuck her in. Prone to the giggles, this happy little faerie will always lift your spirits. Pattern for doll and pj's are my original designs.

Special Mention by Voters.  Why...

Innovative and delightfully orginal.

She is such an original idea! I never thought of a Whippersnapper as a magickal being, but it makes perfect sense! She was so endearing, and tugged at my heart.

Original. Has a cute, delicate look, something different from the norm. I like the idea of weighted body.
