John Herny

Doll by Leeann Murray
from... Waterville, Vermont

This is my all American little boy (John Herny) he is made of my own design, the body is one unit that the 3 piece head is attached to. He has wrapped pipe cleaners inside his arms, hands, feet and legs to make him flexible. I Firmly Stuffed his doe seude baby skin body with cotton stuffing. I have inserted plastic doll eyes, to give him a more relistic look. I sculpted his nose and lips to give him a more relistic look. He has a kemper mohair doll wig. John Henry is wearing a dress shirt and blue jeans. Thank you for taking a look at my creation.

Jamie and James

Doll by Doressa Carlton
from... Twinsburg, OH

Nationality: Afro American

They were made from one of Kezi's Oregon Rag Babies: Twins Bly and Cotton.

I have always adored twins; they are a double blessing. Their clothes were made with 100% cotton trimmed with one of Mary Engelbreit's designs which is also 100% cotton. They were a joy to make. I will make another Jamie to wear the baby shoes that I have been saving since 1970 (they were my daughters that I were keeping to put on just the right doll).

Baby Anne

Doll by Tove Edens
from... Ontario, Canada

This adorable 14" (35.5cm) baby doll is made from Kezi's "Baby Anne" pattern with a couple of tweaks to make the baby's pose more realistic.
I redesigned the pattern for one leg and one arm so they bend much further than the original pattern pieces. The arms and legs, including the feet and fingers have chenille stems armature to make it possible to pose her individual fingers, hands, arms and legs. Baby Anne's stuffing is sheep's wool roving making the craft velour skin so easy to smoothly fill.

Baby Anne has a few strands of a wig glued to her head, the face is very lightly sculpted and the face features are a drawn with a combination of paint, markers and colouring pencils. Her puppy is a purchased soft toy and the 6" (15cm) dolly is from another of Kezi's creations, "Dollmaker's Angel" pattern.

Baby Anne is wearing a dress, bonnet and booties made from the original pattern included with the doll pattern, again, a few minor tweaks were made to the pattern.

Melinda

Doll by Margie Urrutia
from... BAY POINT, CA

The baby doll Melinda was designed by a Russian dollartist. I'm not sure if her name is Raisa Mannapova or timoska Poyavilzya. I found this pattern on the internet Pinterest and was written in Russian so I don't have a email address for her. Melinda is sleeping taking a nap with her puppy dog watching over her. The Puppy is needle felt and was designed by Mitsuki hoshi. Her address http://hoshi-mitsuki.com. Melinda is made of felt material. Her bonnet is cotton with red hair.

Americo Ellis Kelly

Doll by Deborah Novak
from... Moraine, Ohio

After a long voyage from Ireland, the Kelly family finally reached the shores of America on July 3rd, 1924. Little Ellis, as he is called, was born in the Ellis Island hospital early in the morning of July 4th, making him the first American citizen in his family. To mark his birthday, the kind nurse gave him a small American flag as a remembrance of the occasion.

Ellis is a soft sculptured cloth doll that has been made from color washed muslin, from the Martha Hotcombe pattern "Preshus". He is 21 inches long and has been firmly stuffed using poly-fil. His features are hand embroidered and he has needle-felted mohair locks. Ellis is wearing a vintage nightgown found at a local antique shop. His little American flag was purchased.

Baby Noel

Doll by Joyce DeAngelis
from... Edinburg, Texas

This is Baby Noel. She is made from a pattern by Carolee Creations. Noel was originally created as a Christmas Angel but I thought she would make a cute baby. I added little baby pigtails and made her some baby clothes. Noel is18"tall and is wearing real baby shoes and socks.

Edward VI as Prince of Wales

Doll by Carrie Palmer
from...  Chicago Heights, Il

Edward is an original doll by me. No part of him or his clothing is by another designer. He is completely cloth except for his face which has clay underneath the skin.

Edward is inspired by the portrait of Edward Tudor VI, the only son of Henry VIII, as an infant by Han Holbein the Younger (image of the original painting included with permission). The son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, Edward was raised as the hope of his dynasty. Edward's death at sixteen gave England its first Queen Regnant, Mary I Tudor, and paved the way for the ascension of Elizabeth I.
