Gerry
Doll by Barbara Johnson
from... Greensboro, NC

Gerry is a busy little 12 month old boy. He hasn't quite learned to walk yet but that doesn't stop his Dad from visualizing Gerry as a future NFL star. His Mom, on the other hand, still cannot bring herself to give him his first haircut. Gerry was a design born out of my adaptation of a movable head and shoulder class offered by Kori Leppart. His head and shoulders are my original sculpture, using the techniques taught in the class. It has been covered with cloth and attached to a body that is my design. He measures 18 inches long. His hair is a wig made by me of Tebetan lamb's wool. His clothing was purchased and remade to fit his frame. The puppy was also purchased. I hope you'll like the little guy.

Madisyn
|
|

This is Madisyn. She is a 20" doll designed by me to fit into newborn sized clothing. She is made using all natural materials. Her skin fabric is 100% cotton and she is stuffed with 100% wool. Her face was sculpted in wool before the skin fabric was added to create her face and give her a unique personality. I also placed a magnet into her lips so that she can also take a magnetic pacifier. Her hair is platinum blonde, made from fine mohair. Her clothing is store bought baby clothes.

Spring
Doll by Kathy Copeland
from... Paragould, AR

My cute little doll is named "Spring". She just looked like a breath of fresh air as she was being born with her pretty green eyes and blond curly hair.
Spring is loosely based on a pattern by Darlene Raush. I changed her up slightly. She is made with deer suede fabric and button jointed at her shoulder and hips. Spring's face is done with gel pens and water color pencils and she has curly blond synthetic hair. Spring's dress and pinafore is made with 100%cotton in valentine fabric with lots and lots of three tier lace.
I have always wanted a valentine baby and when I saw Darlene's pattern she gave me the inspiration for Spring. Spring is close to 18 months old now and loves trying to walk. When she woke up on valentines day she was so excited because she heard mommy and daddy talking about getting her a huge box of chocolates and she was just so giddy.

Noé, tiny 11" baby
Doll by Thalita Dol
from... Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, RJ

Noé measures about 11 inches. He was my first tiny baby, so he is a prototype and have some features I'd classify as "not perfect". Like I wish to have added some more tension to his button joints and maybe his body could be more chubby to better match his cheeks.
He was made with premium cotton knit (DWE), lined with fleece and stuffed with wool and clean rock sand (he is quite heavy for his size!)
He is button jointed, and has soft sculptured and needle felted features.
His hair is a natural black wool, crocheted into a cap and than brushed.

Sleeping Angie
Doll by Melody Korlinchak
from... New Holland, PA

Sleeping Angie is my baby for the Baby Doll Challenge, she is a pattern by Dinky Baby cloth doll patterns. Angie is made from craft velour and is about the size of a newborn baby and as most newborns, she is a sleeping baby. It was fun sculpting her and seeing her come to life. Her hands are so much like a real baby the way they are stitched, and it was fun to learn this new technique. Another new technique for me was the way her eyelids were made, having her eyes closed showing off her beautiful long eye lashes. I knitted her sweater first, and the found matching fabrics to make the rest of her clothes . The booties are crocheted with a pattern that I adjusted to fit her feet.

Baby Easy
Doll by Melody Korlinchak
from... New Holland, PA

I have created a vintage Baby Easy, an original pattern from 1983 by Judi Ward for the baby doll challenge. Her hair is part of her head patterns and is made from long fur which makes it wispy just like a real baby. I adapted the eyes to ones that were stitched in different colors of floss to add depth and life to her eyes and I then painted her finger and toe nails .Using a purchased pattern, I made her a sun dress and bloomers, and coordinating headband paired with shoes I crocheted . I also crocheted the teal dress, bloomers, hat and booties as a change of clothes for her.I hope she will give some small child many hours of happiness!
